Hungary has nominated Tibor Navracsics, Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to serve as Commissioner in the new European Commission. The new European Commission is currently being formed following the European parliamentary elections in May and will have 28 members nominated by the governments of each member state.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán informed European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker about the formal nomination in a letter on Wednesday. He cited Mr. Navracsics's professional expertise and commitment to Europe as assets qualifying him for the job. No decision has been made as yet regarding the field Navracsics could oversee as Commissioner.
