Prime Minister Viktor Orbán presented His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia with the Commander’s Cross of Hungary's Order of Merit on Thursday in Budapest.

In his laudation, the Prime Minister said the award was recognition of the Prince's socially responsible activities, which transcend the boundaries of traditional business.

The Prince has had a remarkable career which has won deserved recognition throughout the world. The member of the Saudi royal family was recognised for his efforts in developing Hungarian-Saudi economic relations.

The Prince has received a total of 73 decorations from various states and international organisations and has been awarded honorary degrees by several universities, including the Corvinus University of Budapest.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz expressed his appreciation of Hungary’s culture, history and people. He also mentioned that Hungary is aiming to develop a much broader network of relations with countries throughout the world, not only with Western powers.
