In a Facebook post on Monday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated the Hungarian participants who have achieved outstanding results in the WorldSkills 2015 Sao Paolo competition.

“Congratulations! We are proud of our skilled workers”, he wrote.
Mr. Orbán also attached a link to the website faipar.hu, according to which cabinet-maker Attila László won first place, thus gaining the first ever WorldSkills gold medal for Hungary. He was also the most successful competitor in the Hungarian team, and was therefore awarded the “Best of Nation” medallion.

Furthermore, faipar.hu reports that construction joiner Gergely Mózer was awarded the “Medallion for Excellence”, as he received high scores in the competition.

According to Hungarian news agency MTI’s report from Sao Paolo, Mr. László and IT network system administrator Dávid Csongrádi were awarded a gold and silver medal, respectively.

Medallions of Excellence were awarded to the mechatronics team of Krisztián Zilahi and Dávid Balázs, to the florist Melinda Kunfalvi and Gergely Mózer for scoring more than 500 points.

Over 1,200 competitors from 63 countries participated in the 50 events of the WorldSkills competition, which was held from 11 to 16 August. Hungary was represented in 13 trades by 14 professionals. The results were announced at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
