Prime Minister Viktor Orbán repeatedly consulted with scientists about the coronavirus epidemic which is escalating also in Hungary, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday morning.
The meeting held in the Carmelite Monastery was attended by Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University, Gergely Röst, epidemiology mathematician of the University of Szeged, Anikó Nagy, Director General of the Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute, Miklós Szócska, head of Semmelweis University’s Health Care Manager Training Centre – both of them former state secretaries for health care – and Róbert Bedros, the Prime Minister’s appointee for the South Buda Centre project of the Healthy Budapest Programme.
Mr Orbán highlighted that he would like to acquaint himself with the opinions of the widest possible range of experts so that the government can continue to adopt further necessary measures about the containment of the disease.
