On Wednesday morning in the Carmelite Monastery in Budapest, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Stephen Harper, former Prime Minister of Canada, Chairman of the International Democrat Union, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday.

At the meeting, which was also attended by the Prime Minister’s cabinet chief Antal Rogán and Minister of State for Family and Youth Affairs Katalin Novák, the parties spoke about topical world political issues, as well as about possibilities for developing Hungarian-Canadian cultural relations.

Stephen Harper was Prime Minister of Canada for the Conservative Party from 2006 until 2015.

The International Democrat Union’s membership includes more than 80 centre-right parties from 60 countries world-wide.
