Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conducted bilateral talks on Monday in Baku where both of them arrived to attend the next meeting of the Turkic Council.

After the meeting, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister told the Hungarian news agency MTI that the Turkish President thanked Mr Orbán for the fact that the first European office of the Turkic Council had recently been opened in Budapest.

The parties also spoke about the further development of bilateral relations. Mr Orbán said he looks forward with great anticipation to the Hungarian-Turkish governmental summit which will be held on 7 November in Budapest.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan further expressed his gratitude for the fact that Hungary stands up for Turkey on the international scene, Mr Havasi reported.

Finally, recalling the Turkish President’s latest visit to Budapest, they concluded that the refurbished Tomb of Gül Baba which was inaugurated at the time has become a favourite location in the Hungarian capital both for Turkish and Hungarian citizens, the Deputy State Secretary said.
