Press Chief of the Prime Minister’s Office Bertalan Havasi has informed kormany.hu that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, on Friday evening in Kazan (the capital of the Republic, which is part of the Russian Federation). In their meeting they discussed economic matters.

Both politicians welcomed the recent opening of the Hungarian Consulate in Kazan.

They also agreed that favourable economic cooperation must be utilised, and that trade volume between Hungary and Tatarstan must be increased, while of course also respecting EU sanctions.

Mr. Havasi said that the two politicians agreed that one possible form this could take would be the establishment of joint ventures, in which Hungarian technology might play a significant role – especially in the fields of health care and agriculture.
