“The first ever prime ministerial meeting in the history of Hungary and the Republic of Cape Verde was held on Thursday afternoon in Budapest”, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief, Bertalan Havasi informed the kormany.hu government news portal.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received his counterpart, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, in Hungary’s Parliament Building.

At the meeting it was stated that every country has a fundamental right to its identity, because preserving and maintaining that identity is the guarantor of the nation’s continued existence. The parties determined that the Republic of Cape Verde, which has many ties to Europe, is a good starting point for maintaining relations with the rest of Africa, and is a good location for primarily tourism-related and infrastructure development projects arriving from European countries.

Mr. Orbán praised the country’s development and offered 10 students from the country scholarship places to attend Hungarian universities beginning in September, Mr. Havasi said, adding that the during the meeting José Ulisses Correia e Silva had invited the Hungarian Prime Minister to make an official visit to Cape Verde.
