Prime Minister Orbán stated on Kossuth Radio’s 180 Minutes program that the extension of the telecommunications tax cannot be introduced in its current form, adding that the tax legislation submitted to Parliament has to be amended.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the process cannot go ahead as "the debate has gone astray" and "a common basis is missing", with the people envisioning an internet tax, when in reality it is the extension of the already existing telecommunications tax.
After the holidays, in mid-January, a national consultation will have to be launched regarding the internet, including its financial aspects, Mr Orbán said.
