On Wednesday, after a summit of Visegrád country prime ministers in Prague, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at a press conference that the Visegrád Group have put the hardest and most complicated year behind them, and have successfully tackled the problems that had arisen.

At the summit the Czech Republic symbolically handed over the Presidency of the regional cooperation to Poland.

Mr. Orbán thanked V4 countries – and especially the Czech Prime minister – for supporting Hungary in handling the migration crisis over the past year, and for having stood up for the Government of Hungary throughout political disputes with the EU.

He said that the V4 cooperation is a success story: its Member States are currently Europe’s growth engine. “Without the V4 there would be no economic growth, only stagnation and recession within the EU”, he explained.
