In a message Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Ludovic Orban, President of the centre-right National Liberal Party on his election as Romania’s prime minister.

“I can assure you that Hungary is preparing to cooperate also with Romania’s new government on the basis of mutual respect, with a view to serving the interests of the two nations,” Mr Orbán wrote.

He said he sincerely hopes that they can work together in a constructive spirit in the interest of the intensification of Hungarian-Romanian relations and a successful European Union that rests on the foundations of strong nations, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.
