Today, the world expresses its respect to the victims of the Paris terrorist attack. As Prime Minister of Hungary, I would first of all and most importantly like to express my most sincere condolences. We Hungarians share the grief of the people of France.
The spread of terrorism in Europe is now a reality, which is growing day by day. It is the people of Europe who are under attack; the freedom and way of life of the people of Europe. This is threatening the safety of our everyday lives. We cannot afford not facing this threat.
Europe must be capable of protecting itself. Political correctness no longer provides protection against cruel barbarity. Hungary has committed itself to protecting European values and is doing its utmost to participate in this vital struggle. However, it has also transpired that current European politics is suited to protect the people of Europe.
We need a new Europe and Europe needs new defences and stabilisers to prevent the quakes and movements that endanger its security.
We Hungarians are prepared to cooperate with any and all European political forces that have proposed a solution to the problem and are willing to fight against these latest threats.
