In a Facebook video posted on Wednesday, explaining the Fidesz presidency’s resolution the previous day, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared that Hungary’s government shall not bow to blackmail, as Hungary must come first; it shall fight against those who want to change Hungary’s and Europe’s Christian identity, he said.
The Prime Minister said that at the meeting Fidesz discussed the statement by the Belgian prime minister, who said that if necessary Central Europe – including Hungary – will be forced to admit migrants.
He pointed out that the plan is for this to occur at June’s summit of EU heads of government in Brussels.
Over the weekend, Belgian prime minister Charles Michel spoke about sending “an ultimatum” to the Visegrád countries which “reject solidarity”. The essence of this ultimatum would be that if by the end of June a consensus is not reached in the council of EU heads of government, then the planned reforms would be adopted with a qualified majority vote which would overrule dissenters.
