Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Boris Kollár agreed on the issues of V4 cooperation, the representation of national interests, family policy and illegal immigration at their talks held in Budapest on Tuesday, Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday.
At the talks held at the Carmelite Monastery, the parties confirmed that both Hungary and Slovakia have a vested interest in the success of the EU; however, they will continue to stand for national interests and the sovereignty of Member States.
The two politicians further agreed that on the issue of illegal migration Member States should follow a policy of zero tolerance. The Speaker of the Slovak Parliament described the Hungarian government’s family policy as exemplary.
They both underlined the importance of preserving the unprecedentedly successful Visegrád cooperation in Europe which should be even further strengthened, the press chief said.
