Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga is to inaugurate the Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, on 7 November. The Hungarian Government considers the Central-Asian country to be a strategic partner and improving Hungarian-Kazakh relations has been a priority of the Government’s Opening to the East policy.
The central sub system of the state budget had a cash-flow-based surplus of HUF 35bn in the month of October 2014, thus total deficit declined to HUF 809.6bn by the end of the month. This figure constitutes 82.2 percent of full-year estimate.
The majority of the largest vehicle manufacturers and suppliers have been present in Hungary and the Government’s goal is to have 20 car industry innovation centres in Hungary until 2018, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at an exhibition in Budapest.
In the European Commission Outlook published earlier today, the economic growth prognosis for Hungary was once again revised upward. This estimate is in line with the Government’s projection. Data for 2014 and 2015 are also noteworthy as the pace of growth within the EU28 is expected to slow down.
Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga, acting in the name of Hungary, has signed an agreement on the international sharing of tax-related information, which represents a milestone in the fight against tax evasion. The document was signed by ministers and high level representatives from almost 50 countries and authorities at the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes in Berlin, Germany.
Employment is continuing to increase dynamically in Hungary according to the latest flash report from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH). The number of people in employment rose to 4 million 182 thousand in the July-September 2014 period, which is 192 thousand more than during the same period in the previous year. Unemployment fell by 2.4 percentage points to a new low of 7.4 in the third quarter.
The fact that South-Korea is interested in and ready to welcome Hungarian enterprises shows the success of the South-Korean-Hungarian Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP), Deputy State Secretary for International Economic Relations Antal Nikoletti said at a press conference that followed a presentation of the first-year results of this economic consultation programme.
Wages in real terms are up by 2.9 percent in the initial eight months of the year. The number of people employed in the private sector – at enterprises with at least five employees – increased significantly, by 54 thousand in August in comparison to the same period of the previous year. In the initial eight months of this year, average gross wage was HUF 234 600 and, excluding public work schemes, it was HUF 246 400 in Hungary.
Hungary’s economic growth requires many more skilled workers and technicians than those provided by the current education system, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at an event organized to welcome the Hungarian winners of Euroskills, a competition for young skilled Europeans.
The Ányos Jedlik Cluster has been formed under the supervision of the Ministry for National Economy and the National Innovation Office in the interests of the earliest possible realisation of the Ányos Jedlik Plan, which aims to promote the popularity of electric vehicles.
