“The period since the Paris attacks two years ago has made it clear that if we do not protect ourselves, then the terrorists will destroy our European culture and civilisation”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared in the recess of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
“The modernisation of the Cuban economy is a major opportunity for Hungarian enterprises to establish a presence on Cuba’s increasingly open market and to realise profits”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday during a two-day visit to Cuba.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Deputy State Secretary for European and American Relations Kristóf Altusz was on a working visit to Madrid on 7-8 November, where he attended a roundtable discussion of Visegrád Group (V4) deputy state secretaries organised within the framework of the Hungarian presidency of the V4.
Hungary’s Embassy in The Hague organised a panel discussion entitled “International law from a Visegrád perspective” in cooperation with The Hague Institute for Global Justice research institute. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Réka Varga, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Directorate of International Law. The event, in which the diplomatic body in The Hague and some 130 people from international courts and research institutes took part, was organised within the framework of the Hungarian presidency of the Visegrád Group (V4). During the panel discussion, recognised judges from the Visegrád Group countries shared their views with regard to their countries’ legal traditions and the ways in which those traditions are effected by international law, in addition to which they discussed how domestic court experience influences their work in the international courts and tribunals operating in The Hague.
Edelmann Hungary Packaging Plc., a subsidiary of the German Edelmann Group, is expanding the capacity of its packaging material production facility in Zalaegerszeg with an investment of 3.15 billion forints (EUR 9 million).
With relation to the mass shooting in Texas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the wave of violence that has been sweeping across the world recently is shocking. At a press conference on Monday, Péter Szijjártó confirmed that no Hungarians were injured in the shooting at Sutherland Springs Baptist church.
“The East West Venture Capital Fund, which will be investing in Hungary and Portugal as a private equity fund operating according to market regulations, will begin operations on Wednesday and is opening a new era in economic relations between the two countries. The Fund’s investors include Eximbank Cls, OTP Bank Plc and MOL Plc.”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced.
