“Hungary and the United Arab Emirates have been able to successfully increase their cooperation despite the fact that objective circumstances have been continuously hindering this in the recent period”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday. The Minister was on an official visit to Abu Dhabi, where he held talks with the UAE’s Foreign Minister, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Minister of State for Food and Water Security, and Minister of State for Foreign Trade.
Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő presented Ambassador Iain Lindsay with the “For Defence” honorary title on Monday 7 September. The Defence Minister thanked the British diplomat for his many years of work at the residence of the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Hungary, in Budapest.

“The government of Hungary regards all enterprises that are realising development and investment projects now, in the interests of preserving their workplaces and creating new ones, as allies”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Pannon Vegetable Oil Production Limited’s new vegetable oil refinery plant in the Bács-Kiskun County town of Foktő on Monday. The new plant is being realised with an investment of over 22 billion forints (EUR 61 million) and 1.8 billion forints (EUR 5 million) in state funding.
Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri Anthony Muheria, Chancellor of the Tangaza University of Eastern Africa Gary Mueller and Chief Executive Officer of the development group Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) thanked Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a message for Hungary’s financial assistance. At the same time, they informed the Prime Minister about the projects to be implemented from the Hungarian grants, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Monday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó emphasised the importance of cooperation between Hungary’s Hajdú Bihar County and Bihar County in Romania, as well as of the participation of Hungarians at Romanian local government elections in Nagyvárad (Oradea) on Friday.
The reconstruction of the building became necessary due to the fact that in October 2016 it was gutted by fire.
The second motorway border crossing point between Hungary and Romania was officially inaugurated on Friday in the presence of the Hungarian and Romanian Foreign Ministers and the Romanian Minister of Transport.
