At a meeting of government leaders from Germany and the Visegrád Group (V4) in Bratislava on Thursday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that all major decisions will have to be deferred until after the decision made by European citizens in May – in the elections to the European Parliament (EP).
“The U.S. Secretary of State’s visit next week proves that Hungary is a dependable NATO ally”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday. The Minister issued the statement in response to the fact that American Chief National Security Advisor John Bolton announced on Twitter: head of U.S. diplomacy Mike Pompeo will be visiting Budapest next week.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks on Hungarian gas import diversification opportunities with U.S. Secretary of State for Energy Rick Perry on Wednesday in Washington.
“Regardless of the military successes achieved against the Islamic State, the terrorist organisation still represents a major global and regional threat, and for this reason Hungary is ready to continue the fight against the jihadist organisation”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared in Washington.

“Hungary is performing beyond its capabilities in its international efforts to preserve peace, security and stability”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI, reporting on his talks in Washington.
“In addition to wanting to further expand and modernise their Hungarian investments and capacities, American companies also plan to increase the ratio of research & development within those investments”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Washington following talks with the directors of several major American corporations.
“Frans Timmermans, the First Vice-President of the European Commission and the top candidate of the European Socialists (PES) for the post of Commission President, should be withdrawn from the work of the Commission for the period when he is actively taking part in the election campaign”, Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office Gergely Gulyás wrote in a letter to Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, explaining the position of the Hungarian Government.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will be travelling to Bratislava, where he will be attending the summit of the heads of government of the Visegrád Group (V4) countries and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief, Bertalan Havasi said.
