Minister Péter Szijjártó has once again turned to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe with relation to the plight of Transcarpathian Hungarians, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday.
Sándor Pintér plans to begin his fourth term as Minister of Interior with unchanged goals, including continuing to strive to protect Hungary’s culture and national sovereignty, and maintaining order and security, the current Minister said on Monday at his hearing before a joint meeting of Parliament’s National Defence and National Security committees in Budapest.
Candidate for the post of Minister of Human Capacities Miklós Kásler highlighted achieving a turnaround in the current demographic trend, building the workfare society, reinforcing national identity and the physical, social and spiritual security of upcoming generations as important plans to be realised during his hearing before Parliament’s Public Welfare Committee on Monday.
“Many conflict situations are not moving towards a solution, and these represent new security challenges for both Central Europe and Hungary”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó highlighted on Tuesday at his hearing before Parliament’s National Security Committee.
“Representing cross-border Hungarian communities will remain one of the most important tasks of foreign policy, as has been the case so far”, Péter Szijjártó said on Tuesday at his hearing before Parliament’s National Solidarity Committee prior to his reappointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
On Tuesday Bertalan Havasi, Deputy State Secretary heading the Prime Minister's Press Office, told Hungarian press agency MTI that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has started a tour of the country to express his thanks for the support he received in the general election on 8 April. He will revisit several places he visited during the election campaign.
“International energy negotiations and cross-border development projects are to be added to the duties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Trade, in addition to which the Information Office will also be under the supervision of the Ministry”, candidate for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at his hearing before Parliament’s Economic Committee on Tuesday.
László Trócsányi, the incumbent Justice Minister who was nominated to head the Ministry also in the new government, regards the Sargentini Report as an indictment with a list of already closed cases. He also said at his pre-appointment hearing held before Parliament’s European Affairs Committee on 15 May 2018 that he expects major disputes on this matter in the autumn. The Committee’s government-party members supported the politician’s appointment.

Important tasks within the field of agriculture include the reduction of unemployment, facilitating the further whitening of agriculture, increasing the size of irrigated areas and increasing processing capacities, candidate for the post of Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said, amongst others, at his hearing before Parliament’s Agriculture Committee on Monday in Budapest.
