In accordance with a request from President of the Republic János Áder, over the past few days Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been holding consultations on the formation of his new government. On Friday Mr. Orbán’s Press Chief Bertalan Havasi informed Hungarian news agency MTI that this consultation process has come to a close, the Prime Minister has informed the boards of Fidesz and the KDNP of the results, and Hungary’s new government will be formed in the weeks following the inaugural sitting of Parliament.
In his reply to Viktor Orbán, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the Hungarian Prime Minister for his unshakeable friendship and the close alliance that has been established in recent years, and wished his Hungarian counterpart much success for his upcoming third consecutive term in office, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief, Bertalan Havasi informed Hungarian news agency MTI.
Speaking at Thursday’s session of the European Parliament’s LIBE Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó called the draft of the special report on Hungary a “collection of compounded lies” and declared that during its preparation “the facts and reality were totally disregarded”.
“The dispute between the Hungarian Government and the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) is expected to continue in future”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday after taking part in the Committee’s session in Brussels.
“NATO will be increasing its role in the fight against the Islamic State terrorist organisation, primarily within the field of training”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on Thursday.

“The introduction of a common EU asylum procedure would make the existing Hungarian procedure impossible, Hungary’s ‘effective’ border control system would become unlawful”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, György Bakondi said on Hungarian M1 television’s Wednesday evening current affairs program.
On 25 April 2018, Minister of State for EU Affairs Szabolcs Takács from the Prime Minister’s Office held talks with Israeli Political Director Alon Ushpiz.
“As soon as the security situation permits, Hungary will be constructing a hospital in Syria at a cost of 5 million euros. The project will contribute to enabling as many people as possible to return to their homeland at the earliest opportunity and receive a suitable level of care there”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Wednesday in the recess of the EU-UN Syria donor conference in Brussels.
