On 26 October Hungarian Chief of Defence Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő attended a conference held in Madrid with the participation of Chiefs of Defence from countries of the international coalition against the Islamic State (IS).
At the ICON economic policy forum discussion on the economic policy impacts of migration held in Budapest on Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that migration is by no means an answer to European employment and demographic challenges.
In a decree adopted on Monday the Government laid down the tasks and powers of the Head of Cabinet of the Prime Minister. The decree means that, as Head of Cabinet of the Prime Minister, Antal Rogán will organise, monitor and coordinate the establishment of the Government’s general policy, and he may request special information on its implementation for the Prime Minister.
Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén has said that the Government of Hungary welcomes the result of joint efforts achieved by the Hungarian community in the municipal elections on Sunday.
Speaking about the newly-inaugurated institution, Minister of State for Hungarian communities abroad Árpád János Potápi said that the new Hungarian House in Toronto meets the needs of the 21st century and those of the Hungarian community.
In Brussels, at a meeting on Sunday of leaders of countries affected by Western Balkans migration, Viktor Orbán made it clear that Hungary is ready to help states situated on the migrant route.
The Western Balkans migration route no longer directly affects Hungary, and it is therefore now attending the summit on this purely as an observer, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said upon arriving at the meeting on Sunday.
In an interview with the conservative Spanish newspaper ABC, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the fence on the Hungarian border is working, as others elsewhere in Europe are – although people do not generally speak about those.
On the second day of his official trip to Nigeria, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén visited the Abuja National Mosque where he met with member of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Ibrahim H. Jega and Onah of Abuja Alhaji Adamu Baba Yinusa, Cabinet Office Press Chief Bertalan Havasi told the kormany.hu Hungarian government portal.
“Hungary is alone in complying with Schengen and Dublin regulations during the immigration crisis; the Hungarian model works and the European Union should use it as a basis for finding a solution to the conflict”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said.
