Efforts by the National Competitiveness Council already bearing results

The Government aims to promote digital services in as many fields as possible, expecting to both improve the competitiveness of service providers and reduce costs at end-users, Mihály Varga said following the third session of the National Competitiveness Council. As the Minister said, they have managed to draft amendments concerning five out of the altogether six priority areas discussed by the Council, which can be submitted to the National Assembly already this semester.

Government submits draft legislation to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism

The Government has submitted two bills to the National Assembly, on reinforcing Hungary’s regulatory system with relation to money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and on creating full harmony with international standards. The adoption of the new legislation will greatly contribute to the protection of the Hungarian financial system from the laundering of income derived from crime, and against attempts to financially support terrorist organisations.

Seven per cent industrial growth in February

Industrial performance increased by 2.7 per cent in Hungary in February, compared with the year before, while when the effect of business days is removed from this indicator, production increased by 7 per cent. The processing industry increased in eight of its thirteen averages compared with the corresponding month of the previous year. Based on the monthly industrial production data received to date, the performance of the Hungarian industry exceeded that of the European Union’s average.
