Wages in real terms up for almost 3 years in Hungary

Wages in real terms grew year-on-year by 4.2 percent in the period January-November 2015, according to the flash report of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) published earlier this morning. Commenting on these data, Minister of State for the Labour Market and Vocational Training Péter Cseresnyés said that thus wages in real terms have been rising for the thirty-fifth consecutive month.

The Government does not plan changes to the tax regime

The Government is not contemplating changes to the tax regime, as the current system based on proportionate burden-sharing – which supports legal jobs and recognizes the costs of raising children – is far better than any proposal by the IMF, OECD or other international bodies, Deputy State Secretary for Taxation and Auditing Zoltán Pankucsi told public news channel M1.

Labour market issues on OECD ministerial meeting agenda

One of the main objectives of the Hungarian Government is to give further impetus to labour market growth, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at the OECD conference of employment and labour ministers held in Paris. Following this year’s first plenary session, the Minister said that Hungary is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hungary’s OECD membership and the country will devote a full-year programme to mark this event.
