Supporting young farmers and improving the housing opportunities of young families in rural areas are both important

The Slovenian Ministry of Agriculture international ministerial conference entitled “Rural Areas and Agriculture as an Opportunity for Young People” this Friday in Maribor, at which the guest of honour was Macedonia. At the event traditionally held on the day before the opening of the AGRA international fair, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Rural Development said that Hungary considers supporting young farmers and improving the housing opportunities of young families in rural areas as equally important.

“Funding decisions in the amount of approximately HUF 1.5 billion were made within the Hungarian Fishery Management Operative Programme (MAHOP) financed from EU the budget until August, and the application of a further HUF 1.5 billion may be decided until the end of the summer, which contributes to the implementation of the development ideas formed with respect to the fishery sector”, Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development (Ministry of Agriculture) Miklós Zsolt Kis said in Budapest on Tuesday at a press conference held at the Sziget Festival.

The European Commission plans to reduce the sum of area-based agricultural funding available during the 2021-2027 period by 16.4 percent compared to the current programming period. 26.6 percent less EU funding would be available to Hungary for rural development. The majority of member states are against the planned reduction of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) funding.
