A humanitarian disaster has been successfully prevented in the last few days by virtue of the coordinated efforts made by the Hungarian authorities and aid organisations in the vicinity of the Serbian-Hungarian border, the Minister of Human Resources stated at a press conference concerning illegal migration held on Wednesday in Szeged.

UNICEF global service centre opens in Budapest

UNICEF – the United Nations’ Children’s Fund – opened its global service in Budapest on Friday. At the opening ceremony László Szabó, Minister of State for Parliament at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said that the centre will support the fund’s children’s programmes worldwide by providing financial and human resources, as well as IT background.

Hungary needs to make some changes in its higher education system in order to make it sustainable, State Minister for Higher Education László Palkovics said on national TV channel M1 on Thursday night. He said that systemic problems had prompted the Ministry of Human Capacities to initiate changes in 2013, and the higher education strategy for 2014 had also recognised the need for change.
