International choir festival could greatly benefit the city of Pécs

Hosting the Europa Cantat international choir festival in 2015 could benefit the southwest Hungarian city of Pécs in a similar manner to when the city was the European Cultural Capital in 2010, Minister of State for Culture Péter Hoppál said at a press conference in Pécs on Friday.
2015 budget includes more funding for public education

The draft of the 2015 budget includes the allocation of more funding for public education than there is available this year, Minister of State for Public Education Judit Czunyiné Bertalan said at a regional forum for teachers in the eastern Hungarian town of Debrecen on Wednesday.

Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog unveiled on Monday in Shanghai a plaque commemorating Pál Komor, a Hungarian Jew who lived in Shanghai between 1898-1948, who during World War II, helped an estimated 16,000 Jewish refugees – mainly from Germany and Austria – relocate to the United States, Canada or Australia.
