Szombathely National Prison expanded with 700 new places

Szombathely National Prison has been expanded with some 700 new places as part of a HUF 500 million (EUR 1.6m) development project. The new units were officially opened by Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér, Director-General of the National Headquarters of the Hungarian Prison Service András Csóti, and Minister of Defence Csaba Hende.

The Ministry of Interior’s Parliamentary State Secretary Károly Kontrát pointed out that the aim of the Government’s immigration policy is to identify those people who are entitled to international protection as soon as possible, and for legislation to facilitate a more rapid deportation process for economic migrants headed to other EU member states.

The Serbian, Austrian and Hungarian interior ministers agreed on close cooperation on Tuesday in Budapest in the interest of curbing the extreme migration pressure affecting their countries. The ministers laid down their agreement in a memorandum of understanding.
Refugee camps must be established outside the EU

Minister of the Interior Sándor Pintér proposes the establishing of refugee camps outside the territory of the EU. In his opinion, all those fleeing persecution should be received once the asylum procedure has been conducted in these camps, while individual member states should be free to decide individually whether or not to receive economic immigrants.
Hungary seeks patience in application of Dublin Regulation

Hungary continues to observe the Dublin Regulation; at the same time, it needs some technical patience before the acceptance of further illegal migrants as it is at this point in time unable to take care of them, State Secretary for Law Enforcement László Tasnádi said on Wednesday at the meeting of the Defence and Police Committee of Parliament.
Hungary is suspending re-admission of asylum-seekers from other EU Member States

The Office of Immigration and Nationality informed the authorities of Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, France, Poland, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway, Italy, Sweden and Slovakia via the DubliNet system that effective as of 23 June 2015, Hungary is suspending the acceptance of Dublin transfers for an indefinite term.
Mandatory immigrant quota would be unacceptable

It would be unacceptable for Hungary if the reception of a fixed number of refugees were imposed as an EU obligation, given that the country is already under significant migration pressure as it is, Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér stressed.

The International Institute for Security and Cooperation (IISC) founded in Bulgaria, held a general assembly titled “Migration wave and migratory pressure in Europe” in Budapest. President of the general assembly Rumen Petkov stressed at the meeting that uniform legislation and a joint European data base was needed in order to manage the migration situation of Europe.
