Stalinism and the Gulag-system was not only one of the worst periods of the twentieth century, but also of mankind’s history, a disgrace, a scar on the face of Europe and the world. We have to respond to it saying never, ever again!, the Minister of Justice declared at the eve of the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism in Budapest at the commemoration held at the Monument to the Victims of the Gulag.

At the opening ceremony of Petőfiszállás local council’s 17th Days at Szállás event in Bács-Kiskun County on Saturday, Minister of Justice László Trócsányi said that the Hungary of Saint Stephen is the Hungary of small communities. He added that “We would like the European Union to bring about not only the Europe of institutions, but also the Europe of communities.”
Hungary may be protected from EU relocation quotas by law

Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice Pál Völner said in an interview appearing in the latest edition of Hungarian daily Magyar Idők on Monday 8 August 2016 that if the referendum on relocation quotas is valid, and “no” votes win, the law will prevent the European Union from forcing Hungary to admit persons that the country does not want to accept. “The act will be effective for at least three years”, he explained.
The Hungarians will have an opportunity to stop Brussels

“Based on the decision of President of the Republic János Áder, it is now certain that the people of Hungary will have an opportunity to stop Brussels”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in reaction to the date for the referendum on the compulsory resettlement quota having been set. “Hungary has not transferred any kind of sphere of competence to Brussels based on which compulsory resettlement might be possible”, Minister of Justice László Trócsányi declared.

In an interview published on 18 May in the weekly magazine Demokrata, State Secretary at the Hungarian Ministry of Justice Pál Völner said that Hungary must take a stand for its independence, because if it gives in it may lose its sovereignty within 15 years.
