MND launched EU tenders in environment and energy efficiency

Hungary contributes more than 100 troops to the new NATO-led mission which is to start next January in Afghanistan, and assists the financing of the Afghan National Security Forces with USD 500,000 per year between 2015 and 2017, the Minister of Defence said at a conference in Budapest on Thursday.

SAPS payments to farmers begin

Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas launched the special electronic money transfer system for the distribution of SAPS payments and special milk funding on Thursday, at a press conference held at Solum Zrt. in Komárom. A total of HUF 341.1bn (EUR 1.11bn) in SAPS payments may be distributed with reference to 2014 applications. During the first stage of payments, more than HUF 47bn will be disbursed to some 102,000 applicants.

First vehicles of new multiple unit fleet to be put into service

The development of passenger rail services in Hungary has reached a new milestone: the first FLIRT multiple units procured jointly by MÁV-START and GYSEV Ltd’s were put into use in Budapest on 15 October, 2014. The four vehicles of MÁV-START are to carry passengers from 16 October and the three multiple units of GYSEV will be put into traffic in the coming three weeks. The fleet is to gradually grow in the months to come and will be complete by the end of 2015.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán handed over the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary to former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar on Wednesday in the Parliament Building in Budapest. President of the Republic János Áder awarded the decoration to the former people’s party Prime Minister in recognition of his efforts made for the promotion of Hungarian-Spanish relations, Hungary’s Euro-Atlantic integration, and the enforcement of Hungary’s European interests.
