Students have one more week to apply for Klebelsberg scholarships, Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog said at a press conference on Monday, at which he also went on to announce that the scholarship programme has a budget of 343 million forints (EUR 1.12 million). Those who won the scholarship last year will receive 245 million forints from this budget, while a further 100 million is available for new applicants.

Local government elections have been held for the seventh time since the change of regime in Hungary. Electors had a chance to cast votes for mayoral candidates as well as for candidates on the boards of county and local municipalities, while residents in the capital elected a mayor for the city of Budapest. National minority electors also voted for the members of national minority self-governments on the day of the local elections. Instead of the former four years, the current mandate of the elected officials will now extend to a period of five years.

Farmers engaged in animal husbandry and milk production can expect to receive increased funding in 2015, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas announced on Friday at the inauguration of Jász-Föld Zrt’s expanded animal husbandry unit on the outskirts of Jászladány in Hungary’s Northern Great Plains region.
Exim opened the first branch of its provincial network in the centre of Győr on Tuesday. In the coming weeks eight more branches will be opened. The task of the network will be to provide help, support and education free of charge to exporting companies and their suppliers, as well as to the branch networks of commercial banks.
