In a message Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Gergely Karácsony on his election as Mayor of Budapest, and simultaneously invited him to attend the Wednesday cabinet meeting where members of the government will discuss the future of Budapest developments, among other issues.
In the presence of Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő, Hungary’s national flag was hoisted and then lowered to half-mast with full military honours on Kossuth Square in front of the Parliament Building in Budapest to mark the quashing of the 1956 Revolution and fight for freedom. As an expression of commemoration, the national flag will remain at half-mast through the national day of mourning.

In a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday, Pál Völner, State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, said that “The departing European Commission continues to insist on the resettlement of migrants in Hungary.
