Hungary is committed to the development of cooperation within the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and to this end tabled three proposals, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s address delivered at the Brussels summit of ASEM – which was sent to the Hungarian news agency MTI by Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief – revealed.
“It is good news with relation to the admittance of refugees that the issue of mandatory quotas has finally been removed from the agenda and everyone has understood that there will be no quotas, because there can be no quotas”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared on Friday in Brussels in a statement to Hungarian reporters in the recess of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).
“It is in Europe’s definite interests to establish even tighter relations with Asia in view of the fact that a global trade and economic war is beginning to unfold”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared in Brussels in the recess of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) on Friday.
“The revolution and freedom fight of 1956 is a part of our history that has been living with us ever since: it is still present in our decisions, our faith in the unity of Hungarians and our perceptions of the world”, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga said at an event organized by the Hungarian Embassy in Switzerland to commemorate the 62th anniversary of the 1956 revolution in Bern.

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, it is obvious that an agreement must be reached on the system of conditions for the termination of the United Kingdom’s EU membership (Brexit), because failure to come to an agreement would cause major damage to the remaining European Union in view of the fact that the United Kingdom is the EU’s second largest economy and the world’s fifth largest.
Economic relations between Hungary and the United States are instrumental for the steady improvement of Hungary’s economic performance, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga said at a meeting with the US-Hungary Business Council (USHBC) delegation headed by President Eric Stewart.
The ideal of freedom that has guided the struggles of the Hungarian people for centuries must be enforced throughout the continent in order to protect the European identity and form of life, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office said at the commemoration held at the Hungarian Embassy in Berlin on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the 1956 revolution and freedom fight.
According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács, the migration proposal put forward by Austria, the current President of the Council of the European Union, is closer to reality, but is still too far away to “receive an acceptable contour”.
Earnings in real terms increased by 9 percent in the period January-August 2018, fuelling household income growth, which in turn has improved the finances of Hungarian families. The positive trend in real earnings growth has been unbroken for the 68th consecutive month, thanks to the six-year wage agreement, public sector career models and private sector wage hikes.
