On Wednesday the government turned to the Court of Justice of the European Union because it disputes the legality of the adoption of the Sargentini report in the European Parliament, Justice Minister László Trócsányi announced at a press conference in Budapest.
“We are engaged in battle, but we are doing well”, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told journalists – arriving at the summit of the European People’s Party in Brussels – in answer to a question related to migration and border protection.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks on tightening relations between the countries of the Visegrád Group (V4) with Slovakian Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák and Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko in Bratislava on Wednesday.
The protection of the borders is a national and EU obligation. It is an obligation not only under national laws, but also under the Schengen Agreement. This, however, does not change the fact that this duty must be performed by Hungary and the other countries, not by some EU authority, Gergely Gulyás, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office said.
“The governments of the two countries are maintaining the best ever relationship in the cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia, which is based on mutual respect” Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at a press conference in Bratislava on Wednesday.
According to the Prime Minister, in contrast to the European Commission’s proposal, the borders of Hungary will be protected by Hungarian soldiers and police officers, and the country will not accept any kind of resettlement programmes.
“The Hungarian automotive industry is moving up a level; the goal is for Hungary to also be a frontrunner in technological development in addition to production”, Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics said at the official opening of the Automotive Hungary international automotive industry suppliers’ expo on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has stated that one of the most successful sectors in the national economy of Hungary is tourism, because the country is one of the safest in Europe. He was speaking at the Tourism Summit 2018 conference, where the Pro Turismo awards were presented to specialists in the tourism sector, and where Hungary’s new country brand was unveiled.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antić in Budapest on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.
“Hungary spent more than the EU average on education in 2016: it spent 4.9 percent of its GDP on education, which represents 10.5 percent of total public spending”, Deputy State Secretary for Public Education Zoltán Maruzsa from the Ministry of Human Capacities said on Tuesday citing the Education and Training Monitor 2018 report published by the European Commission.
