Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that no one can force Hungary to give up its position on immigration, as the Hungarian people have made it clear that they do not want to see illegal immigrants in their country. Mr. Orbán on Kossuth Radio’s “180 Minutes” programme on Friday, speaking about the infringement procedure launched against Hungary with regard to EU migrant quotas.
Hungary has joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank as the documentation process had been finalized and the initial capital instalment had been transferred to the institution, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said, following the annual general meeting of the Beijing-based financial institution held in South-Korea.
Next year’s budget will serve people who earn their living from work, and it will improve living conditions and bolster the financial security of families, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at a press conference that followed the final vote on the 2018 Budget.
Bertalan Havasi, Press Chief of the Prime Minister, has told Hungarian news agency MTI that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and re-elected President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) László Lovász held talks on current science policy issues, as well as on the scientific capacities of universities and research institutes.
According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács, family home creation allowance should be made more easily available; there is a need for changes that boost demand.
“EU member states must find a common denominator with relation to the Common Agricultural Policy, and this is also in Hungary’s fundamental interests. The future of Hungarian agriculture is to a great extent dependent on whether we succeed in coming to an agreement on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) following 2020”, Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas said on Karc FM radio’s morning program following talks in the Czech Republic.

“Innovation is the engine of economic growth, and its role is becoming increasingly important”, Parliamentary State Secretary István Nagy said at the launch of a book entitled Research & Development - Innovation in the Service of Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Hungarian agriculture, and especially arable crop production, may be regarded as a successful sector of industry in view of the fact that in every past year it has contributed positively to economic growth as well as breaking several historic records in 2016”, Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision and the region’s Member of Parliament Róbert Zsigó declared at the 9th Professional Partnership Conference in Baja.
“Instead of continuously criticizing and attacking the U.S. President, Hungary is strongly urging the international community to begin negotiations with the United States on the conditions under which it would at least be prepared to take part in the Paris climate agreement”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI by telephone on Thursday.
