According to the Government Spokesperson, left-wing and liberal politicians attacked Hungary because of its immigration policy on Monday in the European Parliament (EP), based on complaints by international organisations financed by George Soros.
The National Sustainable Development Council and the Hungarian Association of Conservationists organised a conference entitled “The Realisation of Sustainable Development Goals in Hungary” on 7 February in the Upper House conference room of the Hungarian Parliament Building, which was attended by over 400 people.
“There is a never before seen level of funding resources available for environmental protection and conservation in Hungary. A budget of 3540 billion forints (EUR 11.5bn) is available for this purpose within the European Union’s current programming period, which lasts until 2020, for instance to fund energy-efficient technologies, agro-environmental management and the protection of aquatic habitats”, the Minister of Agriculture said on M1 Hungarian television and Kossuth Radio’s Wednesday morning current affairs program.
“In the dictionary of the Hungarian Government, patriotic economic policy is not a negative expression, because it practices this kind of economic policy itself”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared at the Investor of the Year Gala held at the Vigadó Concert Hall in Budapest on Monday.
“The majority of comments at Monday’s hearing of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) were critical of the measures Hungary has introduced, but the Government’s migration policy is nevertheless slowly being adopted and applied throughout Europe”, Minister of Justice László Trócsányi said following the meeting, one of the topics of which was the state of the rule of law in Hungary.
“Hungary welcomes the participation of civil society in helping to solve the challenges facing Europe, but the various roles must be differentiated, because it is undeniable that it is governments who have the greatest legitimacy”, Minister of Justice László Trócsányi said at Monday’s hearing of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE).
“We are striving to develop good interstate and intergovernmental relations with Romania, and this requires dialogue”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Monday in Budapest following a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Teodor Melescanu. The Romanian Foreign Minister stressed: Both parties are approaching the various issues openly.
Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács takes the view that the hearing held in the European Parliament (EP) on Monday is aimed against the Hungarian Government’s migration policy.
The Government has already clarified vis-a-vis European institutions the vast majority of the issues that are expected to be raised at the hearing in the European Parliament (EP) to be held on Monday with respect to the situation of fundamental rights in Hungary, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács stated at his press conference held in Brussels before the hearing.
Slovakia and Hungary will be submitting a joint proposal calling for a debate on the dual quality of foods within the European Union and for the development of the legal instruments required to prevent this, at the upcoming session of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council on 6 March.
