Hungarian support for Serbia’s European integration efforts was the main topic of discussion during bilateral talks held on Wednesday between Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas and Serbian Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Snežana Bogosavljević Bošković.
There is a need for more Hungarian export to Serbia and tighter cross-border economic cooperation, particularly between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the Hungarian-Serbian business forum on Wednesday in Budapest.
On the sidelines of the Hungarian and Serbian prime ministers’ summit, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga and Minister of State for Economic Regulation Béla Glattfelder met with Serbian Economy Minister Željko Sertić and Finance Minister Dušan Vujović. At the event, the Serbia’s representatives announced that the Serbian Privatization Agency has been preparing the privatization of 51 Serbian companies and they welcome every Hungarian enterprise showing interest as the Agency hopes to have investors from neighbouring countries.
The issue of migration, the management of „modern-age mass migration”, or in other words, the restoration of the patrolling of the Hungarian border, is not a factor that could distance Hungary from Serbia, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at the Hungarian-Serbian business forum organised by Magyar Nemzeti Kereskedőház Zrt. in Budapest on Wednesday.
Hungary is compelled to protect its southern borders, but this measure is in no way directed against Serbia and the Serbian people, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated on Wednesday in Budapest, at the press conference held jointly with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic after the Hungarian-Serbian government meeting.
The Government debated and approved the proposal on the finalisation and promulgation of the text of the protocol on the modification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Hungary and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at its meeting held on 21 June. The document will be promulgated shortly.
The Serbian, Austrian and Hungarian interior ministers agreed on close cooperation on Tuesday in Budapest in the interest of curbing the extreme migration pressure affecting their countries. The ministers laid down their agreement in a memorandum of understanding.

Speaking of the country’s current economic situation the Minister pointed out that macro-economic indicators, which have recently tended to beat prior expectations, provide an investor-friendly business environment also for American enterprises operating in Hungary.
