Monika Balatoni: aim is to create a favourable image of the country

Developing a positive image of the country is the mission of the new Office of the Minister of State for Cultural Diplomacy and with its work it could help to shape the country’s foreign relations as well, said the Minister of State for Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in an interview with the Hungarian News Agency. Monika Balatoni also spoke of that a Hungarian Institute is expected to open in Belgrade this July.

Monday 16 June was the 25th anniversary of the reburial of Imre Nagy (prime minister of Hungary, executed for his role in the 1956 Revolution) and his fellow martyrs. This year is also the 25th anniversary of the fall of communism. At an event in Budapest on Monday evening commemorating both events, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade called 16 June 1989 the day that truth was reborn.

Temporary consulate in Split begins operations
