On Tuesday evening at the Dohány utca synagogue in Budapest, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár said that the Holocaust was not only an unchristian and inhumane act, but was also an act of treason.
At a press conference on Saturday, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács announced that so far four hundred thousand citizens have responded to the national consultation on immigration, and two hundred thousand of the replies have already been processed. These show that the majority expect more decisive action from Hungary and the European Union in the field of immigration, Mr. Kovács said.
“Through its awareness raising campaign, the Hungarian government highlights one of the most important problems facing Europe,” Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács said on the Friday morning programme of the M1 news channel.

At his regular Thursday “Government Info” press conference, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár announced that the Government will organise an internal conference at the beginning of July – probably on 3 July – in order to determine the tasks for the next three years, based on the latest prognosis of the OECD and the working plans of ministries. He also announced the start of a consultation on public administration cost cuts and a new debt collection system from September.
On Tuesday, following talks with EU Director-General for Regional Policy Walter Deffaa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár said that the standpoints of Brussels and Hungary in the Altus case have not come closer to each other. He emphasised that the Government cannot accept that a consortium led by Altus should receive funds worth EUR 5 million to review and monitor EU projects in Hungary, and therefore it will request a review of the decision.
At his regular Thursday press conference entitled Government Info 10, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár confirmed that the Government categorically rejects the EU’s proposed system of mandatory immigrant quotas.
The Government is planning to create a support programme for large corporations which will provide an incentive for them to embark on further developments, Nándor Csepreghy, Deputy State Secretary for Development Policy Communication at the Prime Minister’s Office told MTI, the Hungarian News Agency on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister’s Office has already fulfilled its payment obligations due by the end of May, as since the beginning of the year it has transferred HUF 725 billion of EU and state funds to successful tenderers. Taking into consideration the fact that 2015 is the last year that Hungary is able to use funds made available in the 2007–2013 programming period, it is important to absorb all the funding available for the country.
We may expect the conclusion of agreements in the next two weeks which will enable the First National Public Utility Service Provider to also start supplying electricity, in addition to gas, in the second half of the year, and consultations have likewise begun regarding district heating services, János Lázár, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office announced at the press conference Government Info 9, which he held jointly with Secretary of State for Government Communications András Giró-Szász.
