Open university created foundations for achievements of national policy

The ideas conceived at the Bálványos Summer Open University and Student Camp created the foundations for the most important achievements of Hungary’s national policy, State Secretary for National Policy Árpád János Potápi said in Tusnádfürdő at the opening of the series of events commonly referred to as Tusványos.
Prime Minister accepted Ildikó Vida's resignation on personal grounds

The Prime Minister indicated already at the beginning of June: he is unable to accept President Ildikó Vida's resignation for professional reasons; however, on personal and family grounds he would be willing to do so, State Secretary for Government Communications András Giró-Szász told MTI on Wednesday in answer to an enquiry.
Two types of border fence to be built on Serbian-Hungarian border

The Government decided on the construction of two types of border fence at its Tuesday meeting; the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence will build an almost four-metre-tall fence on the sections of the border which can be easily penetrated, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office informed the press at a press conference held during the break of the cabinet meeting.
Classifying illegal border-crossing as a criminal offence must be in line with EU law

Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told public news channel M1 on Friday that, in parallel with making legislation on immigration stricter, illegal border-crossing must once again be classified as a criminal offence, rather than a simple infraction.

The Government will initiate an amendment to the Penal Code in order for illegal migration to qualify as a criminal offence, rather than as a misdemeanour, János Lázár, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office said at the press conference “Governmentinfo 17 – What does the Government do and why?” which he held jointly with State Secretary for Government Communications András Giró-Szász.

The European Parliament recognises the efforts made by the Government in the past five years; all support is available for the operation of a development system in Hungary which will make Hungary the region’s most competitive economy by 2020, the Deputy State Secretary for Development Policy Communication at the Prime Minster’s Office said.
750,000 naturalisation requests, 700,000 citizenship oaths

Deputy Prime Minister for Nation Policy Zsolt Semjén announced on Wednesday in a statement given to Hungarian News Agency MTI that the total number of naturalisation requests has reached 750 thousand, and 700 thousand people have taken the oath of citizenship.
