A new kosher slaughterhouse and poultry processing plant has been built in the Csongrád County town of Csengele with a greenfield investment of some 2.8 million forints (EUR 9M); the new facility was officially inaugurated on Wednesday.
At a meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council on 12 June 2017 in Luxembourg, eleven member states support joint German-Hungarian initiative on signing European Soy Declaration.

The Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Public Administration, Andrea Gulyás, concluded a framework agreement on land management cooperation with China’s Deputy Minister for Land and Resource Management Wang Guanghua in Budapest.
“EU member states must find a common denominator with relation to the Common Agricultural Policy, and this is also in Hungary’s fundamental interests. The future of Hungarian agriculture is to a great extent dependent on whether we succeed in coming to an agreement on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) following 2020”, Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas said on Karc FM radio’s morning program following talks in the Czech Republic.
“The Hungarian and Czech Ministries of Agriculture are both committed to protecting the interests of consumers and farmers”, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI following talks with his Czech counterpart, Minister of Agriculture Marian Jurečka in Brno.
“Innovation is the engine of economic growth, and its role is becoming increasingly important”, Parliamentary State Secretary István Nagy said at the launch of a book entitled Research & Development - Innovation in the Service of Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Hungarian agriculture, and especially arable crop production, may be regarded as a successful sector of industry in view of the fact that in every past year it has contributed positively to economic growth as well as breaking several historic records in 2016”, Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision and the region’s Member of Parliament Róbert Zsigó declared at the 9th Professional Partnership Conference in Baja.
Hungary is guest of honour at the Warsaw Food Expo 2017 international food industry fair that opened in Nadarzyn on Thursday, and which this year was organised to coincide with the meeting of Visegrád Group (V4) agriculture ministers and the relative ministers of Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia.
