Chief Veterinarian and the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State Lajos Bognár and China’s Chief Veterinarian Zhang Zhongqui signed a cooperation agreement on closer cooperation between the two countries’ animal health authorities at a meeting in Budapest on 19 May.
“The People’s Republic of China has become Hungary’s 10th most important trade partner in recent years. Hungarian agricultural exports to China exceeded 67 million euros in 2016”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Agricultural Economy György Czerván said at the official opening of the Hungarian stand of the SIAL international food industry expo held in Shanghai on 17-19 May.
“The investigation into the dual quality of foods will be extended to include 30-35 new products such as beers, soft drinks, ice creams, products used for grilling, sauces and salad dressings”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision Róbert Zsigó announced on Hungarian M1 television’s Tuesday morning current affairs program.
“Farmers involved in food production are primarily interests in preserving natural resources, which represent the environmental background for agricultural production, and in safeguarding them for future generations”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Deputy State Secretary for Agricultural Economy said on Tuesday in Budapest at an international conference.
“The VAT cuts on foodstuffs begun in 2014 will continue, and accordingly the VAT of fish will be reduced from 27 percent to 5 percent from January of next year if the National Assembly authorises the draft budget for next year in mid-June”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for agricultural Economy announced at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.
“An agriculture that is free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) represents an opportunity and a certain livelihood in Central and Eastern Europe”, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas told Hungarian news agency MTI in a statement on Wednesday following a meeting of agriculture ministers in Vienna.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture was on an official visit to Sudan to discuss agricultural cooperation. István Nagy and State Minister for Agriculture Yagoub Mohammed El-Tayeb Ibraim signed a cooperation agreement on promoting Hungarian-Sudanese trade and research & development relations within the fields of agriculture and the food industry.
Minister of State Zsolt V. Németh form the Ministry of Agriculture drew attention to the need for agri-environmental farming, and the Director-General of the National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre (NARIC) called for, amongst others, precision farming in the interests of increasing the competitiveness of agriculture, at the second stop in a series of “Agriculture Academy” lectures at the Herman Ottó Institute in Budapest on Thursday.
“Hungary could assist the European integration of Serbia within the areas of legal harmonisation, food safety and agricultural education”, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas said on Friday in Belgrade following a meeting with representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture.
“Animal husbandry is one of the determining sectors of Hungarian agriculture, and accordingly the development of animal husbandry and restoring the balance between animal husbandry and crop production is being given a leading role in the Government’s agriculture policy”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Parliamentary State Secretary said at an event in Hajdúnánási.
