A Hungarian-led EU Twining project entitled “Developing the capacity of the Serbian authorities with relation to treating zoonoses and food-borne diseases” is being realised with French and Serbian participation.
“The Hungarian Government expects the EU to take legal action in the interests of changing practices that result on differences in food quality”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision said on Hungarian public television M1 on Monday.
“Europe’s largest maize processing company is capable of producing higher added value products thanks to continuous development and technological modernisation. This is in harmony with the Government’s and the Ministry’s vision that the Hungarian food sector should produce healthy, safe, natural, GMO-free and competitive products”, the Minster of Agriculture said at the foundation stone laying ceremony for Hungrana Ltd’s latest biomass power plant in Szabadegyháza.
“The Ministry of Agriculture is working on a feed protein programme aimed at replacing the need to import GMO animal feeds”, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas announced on M1 Hungarian television and Kossuth Radio’s “180 Minutes” program this morning. “The majority of consumers in Hungary reject GMO foods, and accordingly our goal is to ensure that animal feeds are also 100 percent GMO-free within the near future”, he explained.
The Guido Schenzl Award, the Pro Meteorological Commemorative Plaque, the Dezső Dévényi Commemorative Medal for Numerical Prognosis and several Ministerial letters of commendation were presented to mark World Meteorological Day on 23 March.

A final and legally binding ruling has been issued with regard to the fact that the Hungarian State acted lawfully during the utilization of state-owned land in the area of Kishantos. The decision of the Metropolitan Court of Budapest confirms the previous decision of the Constitutional Court, according to which the utilization of state-owned lands occurred in harmony with the stipulations of the Fundamental Law, meaning that the state land leasing tender system developed after 2010 is absolutely lawful.
“Agriculture was the driving force of Hungarian economic growth in 2016, Hungarian exports have been performing outstandingly for years now”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Agricultural Economy György Czerván said on Hungarian M1 television’s Tuesday evening current affairs program.
“The results of tests on 100 products to examine the quality of similar foods distributed in Hungary, Austria and several Western European countries are expected next week”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision Róbert Zsigó said before Parliament’s Economic Committee on Monday.
